Can you still boot into Kubuntu? Because you yourself says

"bug" that's grub2?

Well, Malcolm, I'm no expert and don't take it as a disparaging remark
because it's not. But the best way to fly from Tokyo to Honolulu is a
direct flight, not to Auckland and then to Honolulu (unless it's far far
cheaper). But I guess if one wants to do this, it's not for others to
say it's wrong.
