Though for all of that I've on occasion had my old (long gone now) win98
box running for weeks with the clock off by days (never mind minutes) And I
didn't have any problems with my messages being rejected. Though it occurs
to me that I was using an ISP provided smtp server. Is the correct time an
issue only for boxes running their own sendmail???

Either way, If the OP finds your warning to be a bit too accurate, he might
want to look into kalarm. It helps get me out of my chair in time to keep
my appointments. All it takes is a sufficiently annoying sound file...

Just a thought.
