To start with, I am using Ubuntu and not Kubuntu. But I am not having
any problems as you describe with Kaffeine. All channels scanned in
perfectly. The only hassle I have been having since a version of
Kaffeine for KDE4 came out last October or so is that I don't get sound
on some (most) of the High Definition channels. I have discussed this
with the author, he tells me that he has fixed this problem but not
so..... :-( .
What you don't mention - and you should in future questions - is whether
the DVB for terrestrial or satellite TV. I have terrestrial.
Why don't you try xine? I've been using it for years - works like a
charm. The only reason why I also have kaffeine is that xine can't record.
If you do try out xine, first READ the docs for it because you have to
create a channel.conf for your location - and it is not created as
simply as in kaffeine.
