Adding kdm themes

I installed kde-kdm-themes. For some reason it adds new themes to /usr/
share/apps/kdm/themes instead of /usr/share/kde4/apps/kdm/themes; I guess 
this is the Debian location.

Anyway, I copied the new themes to Kubuntu's location. However, I still 
can't get them to appear in System Settings/Login Manager/Themes, so that 
I can select a new theme to use (without manually editing /etc/kde4/kdm/
kdmrc).

Any ideas how to get System Settings to acknowledge their existence?
