I like to read over the groups when I first join, so I tend to lurk for
a while until I get to know the groups. Although, sometimes I jump
right in, especially if I join a group with a particular subject in mind.
I belong to a group that has a few hundred messages a day, and many are
OT. I filter anything with
OT OT- ot/ etc
into a separate folder (although there is still a lot of OT stuff not
marked that way). It does help a bit.
