Well, I use Jaunty 64 bit for normal operations. And I had the
python-imaging missing for python2.4 problem
This installation is an upgrade from Intrepid, so I cannot guarantee
that there is no upgrade issue.
So I installed a fresh copy of Karmic on a expendable machine but the
problem is still the same.
At some point someone deiced that python-imaging requires at least
python 2.5 and so it never installs on 2.4

Any hint?

Using 4.2. No experiments on my working machine.
But how are KDE and python-imaging related?
