Jaunty - can I disable xinerama?

Yes, my xorg.conf seems to work okay.

I think the problem is that X isn't generating an xorg.conf from 
autoconfigure. I also think that this is a big mistake, as how the heck 
do you know what it's doing and thus how to fix things?
