Kmail - how to resize columns

Rightclick on the desktop and choose add panel then right click on the panel 
and add the appropriate widgets: "Application Launcher", "System Tray", "Task 
Manger", "Trashcan", "Digital Clock", "Device Notifier" and "Pager" to 
duplicate what I have.
