Steven, it doesn't sound like he doesn't "like" KDE 4.x. Rather, it
sounds like there's an OpenChrome bug that makes it, but not KDE 3.5,
crash. Those are separate issues.

But since you asked about KDE 3.5 vs. KDE 4.2.x preferences....

For me, KDE 4.2.x is not yet feature-complete the way KDE 3.5 is. One
big, big issue for me is no KPrinter (it's already been decided to
remove it, so reporting this as a bug doesn't help). KPrinter is about
the easiest way to get GTK/GNOME apps (e. g. Evolution, GQView, and so
on) to actually use the KDE printing system. Note that this is just one
example of feature-incompleteness, not the only one.

I use Kubuntu Intrepid with KDE 4.2.x at work to get to know the new
KDE. I have it configured for the "traditional" KMenu, and it's
useable. But when I need to do serious work, I still call for KDE 3.5.
