By the way, I am trying to walk you through, instead of sending a
whole pile of commands based on assumptions.

First thing we're trying to verify is the state of your disk. Mount -l
lists the status of the mounted partitions and their state (i.e.,
read-only or not).

Please bear with us while we try to understand your problem and what
caused it to start with. From that point we can take it on and try to
resolve it.
