OT My computer does not come on.

This morning when I booted up, the computer ran a test on the /dev/sda2 
partition.  When it opened, things seemed pretty normal.  Nonetheless, 
when I clicked on Kmenu to open an application, the computer shut  down 
to completely off.  I rebooted and no screen came up.  I let the 
computer run for several minutes thinking there was work being performed 
in the background, but I never got a screen.  I attempted to open a 
terminal by pressing Ctrl+Alt+F2; still nothing happens.  My computer is 
a home build and less than 6 months old.  When I turn the monitor off 
then on, it responds with the ACER logo, but then shows a window that 
indicates that there is no signal.  What should I do next?
