Opening file in already running Kate

I dunno about KDE 4, but if you can open kcontrol (or equiv) and edit your 
file associations -> Go look for the text/plain type and fish around for 
where it ties Kate to the mix -- Edit that and you will find the command to 
use:
kate --use %U

--use means use already opened kate. %U is just a holder (KDE 3 here) for the 
filename.
