Along these lines, like most businesses using Windows, we have decided to stay
with XP and never use Vista. Well, officially, you can't buy XP anymore, and
you must buy Vista. But we buy PCs from Dell with XP pre-installed everyday.
How?

Certain Vista licenses (the more expensive ones) come with "downgrade" rights
to XP. So when we buy an XP box, we are really buying a Vista box with the
downgrade option pre-installed. This makes it (1) more expensive to buy XP,
and (2) makes it appear that Vista is selling more than it is actually being
used.
