change refresh in 8.10?

from a konsole:
 sudo nvidia-settings

but backup/etc/X11/xorg.conffirst

hint - if things get totally borked:
 sudo rm /etc/X11/xorg.conf
 sudo nvidia-xconfig
 sudo reboot

 Try to run Nvidia X server settings and see if you can change it
 there. I always ending up hacking the xorg.conf by hand as the auto
 configuration or the GUI never worked any good with two monitors.
