Nvidia Cards and 8.10

The latest nvidia driver can handle cards up to 9600 in 8.10. Because of a
quirk in Kubuntu, the computer must be restarted twice before it takes effect
after the proprietary 177.80 driver is installed.
You can look in your in your /etc/x11/xorg.conf file to see if it has a entry
under DRIVER 'nvidia". That shows it is loaded.
Then use the nvidia configuration utility under Applications/Settings to set it
to the correct resolution, update freq and save. Make sure you have it
installed, but it should be automatic with the driver installation.
Then resolution and freq should be correct.
The standard system settings utility is broken and does show the correct
readings or make set-ups for nvidia.
