You can the move the panels around. For instance, you could move the
Information panel (the right panel in the default setup) to the left
side of the window (below Places panel). Search on youtube for "kde
dolphin" to see some of the stuff you can do.

Note, this is KDE 4.1 (Kubuntu 8.10)
