Screen real estate with dolphin

I'm using kde 4.0.3 with dolphin 1.0.2. I did notice dolphin on my kde 3.5.10 
didn't have the little X either. Also I haven't had a problem with removing 
the columns and them re-appearing after I closed dolphin.
