Is there a "PATH" equivalent in Kubunto?

In Windows, when you want some "bin/" to be accessible from anywhere, you go
and change the "PATH" variable accordingly, is there, what and where is the
kubunto's equivalent?

And where should i be looking for this information? I ask bc i have no idea,
and i feel kinda guilty of bothering ppl before trying to find out what i
need to know first.
