Is there a "PATH" equivalent in Kubunto?

It is called "PATH".   In fact, DOS and Windows borrowed it from Unix.

You will need to edit a file to make the change permanent.

Others will point to a tutorial, I suspect.

You can change it for yourself by hitting Alt-F2 and typing "kate
~/.profile" and look for the PATH variable already being changed.
