It's not really meaningless, but it is annoying. Usually they say "if
you are not the intended recipient".. well, since the mailing list is
the intended recipient, and you are a member of the mailing list, then
yes, you are (one of) the intended recipient(s).
I see people on mailing lists (only Linux-related mailing lists, BTW)
say those disclaimers are invalid, etc, because it's a mailing list.
But those disclaimers are required by some company's mail servers, due
to legal concerns (whether we think them valid or not, they are
certainly of concern to the mail server owners). And so, they won't be
disappearing anytime soon, so no use in complaining about them (as a
generality).
You could make a case about how reading and posting to lists from
company email is usually not a good idea, unless you have a business
need to be reading the list.
