Could be worse.  In my case, the resolution and size are normal, but it 
flickers horribly.  It spends about 2/3 of the time in the off state, so I 
have to stare carefully at the insanely flickering screen to try to read the 
glimpses of text.  I had to futz around like that for around an hour once 
when I dist-upgraded from Feisty to Gutsy.  My head still hurts.

Come to think of it, my Ctrl+Alt+Fx keys don't work when X11 is running 
either.

Neither of which helps you in the slightest.  Sorry to throw my own problems 
into your list of issues.  Misery loves company, and all that.

Or "ession" with "kde" and "gnome" in the same file, and a half hour worth of 
permutations.

Or another 15 minutes of permutations.

Damn, what a stumper.  But I did get my wife to yell at me for taking too long 
away from whatever she asked me to do 45 minutes ago, so I'd better walk 
away.
