Sound problem on Hardy

It's not a new laptop. It's a Gateway MX3042.

This script doesn't make it easy to collect the output (it seems to upload it 
to the alsa site - and I'm not sure which URL that would be. My laptop / 
sound card isn't new, though, so this may not be an issue.
