Kubuntu vs. Ubuntu

Okay here I am in KDE, over top of Ubuntu. I keep reading about this fstab folder, I don't have one. And once again, I can't find my usb drive, or my other hard drive, in order to get to the contents of them. In GNOME, the icon of the usb drive was right on my desktop and it was easy to add the other one as well. I can't even find them to add them TO the desktop, in KDE. And I'm a she, not a he. Hehe.
I DO like KDE better, so I'll keep taking a stab at this.
