I've tried QEMU with KQEMU and QEMU Launcher. The launcher would allow you to 
create images in a couple of clicks while the created images can be copied 
and backed up without worrying about file corruption. The Launcher also has 
snapshot mode which I find very useful. And unlike its' competition, I only 
used Konsole during install, everything else you can do graphically.
