Booting problems with KDE ?

Thanks for the explanation - it's always good to learn some more...
I had just finished a long overtime stint and was kind of tired - that's my excuse 
and I'm sticking to it ;-)

I'm hoping to get one of those Dell Ubuntu laptops (and stick Kubuntu on it).
