I would have to agree.

If the mindset or focus of the packagers and the boffins was "leave no-one 
behind" then we could still be running new desktops on Warty, along with the 
latest Firefox and Open Office! 

I don't say this with a whine in my voice, nor am I stamping my foot. I simply 
wonder why the focus is to speed ahead and leave broken islands of old 
versions behind. It seems counterproductive somehow.
