You might try logging in to a console and renaming your ~/.kde
directory to .kde.bak.  Now when you login to KDE all of your KDE
setting are restored to the default.  You will lose all your settings
but your mail directory should be okay.  You'll have to reconfigure.

What has happened is that when you ran the newer release your settings
were upgraded.  Now that you want to go back your settings need to be
downgraded.

Any time I'm playing with a new version, I always back up my .kde
directory so that I can back out the new version, if necessary.
