Strange issue upgrading from Edgy to Feisty -- or is it an issue?

I'm more than hesitant :-) It's my fault. You really can't be in the
middle of a major upgrade, with half of the updates configured, and expect
the system to be able to hibernate and resume. My /usr partition then
somehow got b0rked as I tried to recover - again, it wasn't the upgrade
tool, because I could initially use it.
What _is_ annoying is that JFS & LVM partitions are still not properly
supported by the installer, making recovery much harder.
