fonts and one solution

I finally just tried the following:

cd
cd .fonts

cp /media/sda2/WINDOWS/Fonts/{*.ttf,*.TTF} .


This copied all the TrueType fonts from WinXP into
my home directory/.fonts directory.  Without logging
out or restarting the system I brought up

oowriter


and all the fonts are seen by OpenOffice 2.2.  So I'm
set, in that I know where all the imported fonts are
and separated from the rest of the system, just in case.


Thanks for the leads and the help.  We learn something
new every day of the week.
