from dapper to edgy: a problem with screen/font size

That´s the important part:

You should be able to switch between those resolution modes.
<ctrl>+<alt>+<+> and <ctrl>+<alt>+<-> are interpreted by the xserver directly.
I am wondering if there is something in between that catches those short cuts
before they reach the xserver.

Can you create a new user and log in with that and try it again from there?

When upgrading from one kde version to another i had several mysteries going
on here that disappeared when i cleaned out my profile (aka ~/.kde)
(same with gnome by the way).
