Upgrading from Edgy to Feisty

I have been using Linux for a few years now, including Suse, several
versions of Mandrake/Mandriva and most recently Kubuntu 6.10.

In the past I have always installed as new, wiping out the old version.
Last October for the first time I added kubuntu to my hard drive as a
dual boot with Mandriva.

Now Feisty has appeared and I am more than somewhat nervous. I would
like to try for an upgrade but I need some reassurance first. I had a
couple of normal updates to do today and when I had finished I was
offered the chance to go for the new version of kubuntu. I decided not
to risk it.

Can anyone assure me that nowadays upgrades work fine? I would hate to
lose all my hard work with Edgy. What about programs which are not
anything to do directly with kubuntu, eg Pixelpost which I use for my
photoblog?

And if I do decide to go for it what is the best way. Adept perhaps or
some other program?

I do have a fast broadband setup so no worries there.

Thanks
