Just for you Donny, I'm installing Inkscape, and I will piddle with it.  For 
the GTK-QT theme engine thingie, it might also matter what your QT/KDE theme 
is set to.  There could be something flakey with, say, Keramik that you would 
never see with Plastik.  I've run into issues like that before, first-hand, 
though I have no idea to what extent any of that might be applicable here.
