Deleting earlier Kernel Versions

I have the same situation with my wife and windows XP.

I just placed the Windows entry BEFORE the linux Kernel list that is
automatically updated upon installing/removing new kernels - therefore
it is always the default option for boot, irrespective of the number of
linux kernels.
