should "apt-get dist-upgrade" include kernel updates???

should "apt-get dist-upgrade" include kernel updates???  

I thought I understood that it should, but I haven't seen it happen yet.

I installed breezy from the cd back in Dec of 2005. I'll admit I've only
run "apt-get dist-upgrade" a few times. But the most recent was today,
and so far it hasn't updated or even downloaded an updated kernel. 

:r!ls -l /boot/vm*
- -rw-r--r--  1 root root 1206555 2005-10-10 09:16 /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.12-9-386

Is it possible that the kernel in breezy hasn't even needed a security
update since December?

Or am I doing something wrong???

In case it matters my sources.list file is:
