Oddly enough, I don't even know for sure what package the Matrix screen
savers are in... but I know that a number of the screen savers I've
known and loved from my previous *buntu installation are gone... and by
"a number", I mean all of them... including that one that can be
configured to make it look like you're floating through an infinite
field of doughnuts... that was awesome.

Searching Synaptic for "screensaver" got me nine packages I have
installed: kscreensaver, kscreensaver-xsavers, ktux, rss-glx,
screensaver-default-images, xscreensaver, x-screensaver-data.
xscreensaver-gl, and xscreensaver-gl-extra.

All but the last one are marked with the Ubuntu logo.

Reinstalling them and then restarting the X server did nothing. (I'm
not sure what I thought it would do, actually.)

Also, that Ubuntu bug report I'm talking about turns out to be from LAST
year, so it might not have anything at all to do with my current
problem. I feel so confused.

but accepts "donuts"?)
