Printer Question

Post install issue: I was running an epson cx4600 when I installed.  It
died a painful death, through no fault of linux.  Now I'm running an hp
office jet 5610.  I'm having problems printing some pdf files.  The
pdf's are strictly black and white, no grey or color.  Parts that are
shaded with white lettering are printing entirely black.
I didn't have this problem printing the same files with the epson, and
was wondering if it was a common hp printer or driver problem.
