Hi there.
setup:
Asus P5GDC-V Deluxe, two sata disks (linux software raid 1), two ide
disks on ITE 8212F RAID (windows xp)
question:
Since the ite controller's patch is not included in ubuntu kernel (yet
- -- fedora has it), I cannot access the contents of those disks, but can
I at least configure grub to have the option to transfer boot to that
controller? What I do now is change boot sequence during bios startup,
which is easy (press F8 during boot), but not that elegant.
I remember in Mandrake there was a control panel module that showed all
hardware (even unsupported ones), with bios info and the option to
configure a kernel module. I also could configure lilo to boot from a
controller unknown to linux by giving the appropriate bios instructions.
Unfortunately, that setup is gone (disk crash, hence now the raids) and
I can't find a similar module in k/ubuntu, nor do I know how to setup
grub in such a way.
Any hints?
Thanks.
Stratos
