My experience is that you get stable links in /media/, when you set a
label during formating the device.

e.g. for ext2:
mke2fs -v -L blue -j /dev/sda1

e.g. for vfat:
mkdosfs -v -n dos-part /dev/sda1

I don?t know if it possible for you to format this device or set a label
without formating.
