sound problems

Yeah, it's Intel810. 

My experience with Linux is very shallow, although it goes 
back to Mandrake 6 and Red Hat 3 and I have never been able 
to get the I810 sound working successfully, either, 
although it must for lots of people or they would have 
fixed it by now, right? <g>.

What did work with out requiring any system alterations, 
majick spells or small animal sacrifices was a $20 Creative 
Labs soundblaster card that plugs into a PCI slot.
