Getting printing started.

If it is USB - Make sure that you have the printer turned on before you 
start Kubuntu.  I have had problems in the past with turning the printer 
on after I have booted Kubuntu.

Once you have the printer on the printer will be detected properly in 
the KDE print setup routine.
