I've done only one, and the problem hadn't been there initially, but arose 
after last weekend's update.

The only thing I did WRT to PAM is set my root password and added another 
user, so I guess that's not "mocking around" ...

Sure, but that's going to be after the weekend. (Will have to have a look at 
qemu then, too.)

BTW: Congratulations with the release, I'm impressed by Kubuntu and it surely 
seems to fit what I expect from a desktop distro. Great work!
