Since it's rather long, posting it here instead of wiki.

Bugs:

B-1a. Though my EIDE HDD supports MaxMultSect=16, hdparm on default
installation reveals that MultSect has been set to off (-m0). Also I have
one PIII system where IO_support=1 (-c1) causes problems, while 3 doesn't.
(I've not tested kubuntu-rc on that system though).
/dev/hda:
 multcount    =  0 (off)    <==
 IO_support   =  1 (32-bit) <--
 unmaskirq    =  1 (on)
 using_dma    =  1 (on)
 keepsettings =  0 (off)
 readonly     =  0 (off)
 readahead    = 256 (on)
 geometry     = 16383/255/63, sectors = 120060444672, start = 0

B-1b. EIDE CD/RW drive DMA disabled.
/dev/hdc:
 IO_support   =  1 (32-bit) <--
 unmaskirq    =  1 (on)
 using_dma    =  0 (off)    <==
 keepsettings =  0 (off)
 readonly     =  0 (off)
 readahead    = 256 (on)

B-2. Konqueror media:/
CD drive is not listed.
Extended partition (hda4) is visible as a 1.0 K normal partition.

B-3. KDM : No user list at login menu. (By default, user list is already
enabled in kcontrol)

B-4. Opened each item in the System menu on the panel, so that the first tab
in Konqueror (file manager mode) is Home, 2nd is media:/ 3rd is remote:/
4th is settings:/ and 5th is trash:/ (5th is on foreground). Then clicked
on the 1st (Home) tab to bring it to foreground. Konqueror crashed with 6
(SIGABRT). Back trace details in the attached konq-sigabrt6.txt file.

B-5. Probably not a bug, but the way it works: There are two "Desktop"s in
Home. I seem to recall that there was only one, but after my first affair
with Konqueror (see B-4 above), it started to show 2 Desktops. Right after
I've noted this, I've switched into Konqueror again (not reopened. It was
already open in the background) and saw that one of the "Desktop"s has
gone. Nice magic...

B-6. The same bug (but for OO.o instead of KDE & Turkish instead of Polish)
mentioned at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=21491
openoffice.org-l10n-tr and other default support tr installed. I've not
debugged it as yet so I don't know if it's due to some package missing, or
setup issue, or upstream.

-----------------------------------------------------

Preferences:

P-1. Default keyboard repetition rate is too slow. I set it to highest
(50/s) but it is still around 10 to 15 per sec. Definitely not 50/s.

P-2. Konsole font (medium) is too small (I set it to one bigger font).

P-3. Bash: Semi-traditional alias "ll" for "ls -l" not defined in profile or
bashrc.

P-4. Konqueror: preview is enabled by default. While cool, it slows down
large directory views, and negatively affects the snappiness of Konqueror.
IMHO it should be disabled by default. Alternatively, tree view isn't
displaying all the files in a directory as previews, but only shows a
preview on mouse over. This may be a good compromise (both having the
preview option, and not having to display them all at once).So I propose
keeping the preview on, but showing in tree view by default.

P-5. Konqueror (web browser mode): "New tab" (and optionally "Duplicate
tab") button needed in main tool bar.

P-6. All windows in all desktops are displayed in the task bar. Taskbar
should display only the windows which are open in the current desktop, as
per http://forum.kanotix.net/viewtopic.php?t=6500 :: "May be too much of a
detail to mention it here, but anyway I would like to point out an
inconsistency (IMHO) in default KDE task-bar setup: "Show all icons in all
desktops". The concept of multiple desktops revolves around tidying up a
working environment. E.g. I would open all internet related windows in one
desktop, office related ones in another, etc. But squeezing all the icons
of all desktops into a single taskbar contradicts this approach. Although I
don't generally use multiple desktops, one of the first things I do is
disabling this behavior (usually it is enabled by default in all the
distros I've seen). It's a personal taste, though."

P-7. 4 desktops are shown by default in the pager. 2 would be nicer, again
as per http://forum.kanotix.net/viewtopic.php?t=6500 :: "By default, 4
virtual desktops are shown at the panel. I would suggest reducing this to
2, because not everyone uses this feature and 4 desktops uses up precious
taskbar space (particularly when panel size is set to "small". For those
who want to use more than 2 desktops it's very easy to increase it. For new
users, 2 is enough to inform them of this feature (by its presence) whilst
not using up much space. For similar reasons (panel real estate), I suggest
removing any superfluous buttons from the panel. Just "K-Menu" and "Show
Desktop" is enough, IMHO. Others, like OpenOffice.org, Konqueror, etc could
be placed on the desktop (but not in the panel) to guide new users."

P-8. More of a shameless request than a preference:
In /etc/popularity-contest PARTICIPATE="no" --> "yes" would be better.

P-9. OpenOffice.org : Either default printer should be set as "kprinter", or
at least "spadmin" (run as root) menu entry should be placed on K menu
(best if both).
