In shotwell in maverick, I can confirm that no dialog comes up when a
camera is plugged in.

@Ugo, just to be sure, did you also hide the import functions from the
contextual menu when browsing the camera’s contents?

Does the assumption "if ~/Pictures is mounted read-only" (in comment #1)
have a chance to be true in some cases, or is it something we can
guarantee will never happen?
