Ok. Everything modified according to your suggestion in #2 except for
the last thing you requested.
As far as I can see there's no dialog that comes up in shotwell when the
user inserts an USB key.
What shotwell does when a camera is plugged in is getting information about the camera via libgphoto, and displaying an item in the left-hand tree panel under the section "Cameras".
Here you can see the pictures inside the camera and choose to import some or all of them.
However the import doesn't ask you any confirmation and always copies
the files. I think it does this because libgphoto handles many camera
types and not in all of them the files are accessible via an actual file
path that can be stored in the shotwell database (i.e. the files may not
be "linkable").
I just disabled import from cameras entirely for now (you can still
browse through the pictures on your camera as before).
Finally i also think it would be a good idea to hide the preference item
that allows the user to change the library location.
