Same happens here.

Athlon 850 thunderbird. Breezy works perferct, but not Dapper. I've tried LiveCD, installCD, installing Breezy and updating and nothing works. It stops  at the boot start. When I choose to install a server it gives me this message:
ide: failed opcode was unknown

This happens after detecting my IDE units. SUSE 10.1 RC3 also stops at booting the install CD but i don't know why and Fedora core 5 thich also has a new kernel (I think also 2.6.15) freezes when starting to install.

Maybe is a kernel problem after all, not Ubuntu's.
