Andreas, as a guess:
Can you download Ubuntu12.10 again and verify the download by checksum?
You can use the firefox plugin
downthemall
,which can do the checksum check automatically.

Bug description:
After the installation has finished (seemingly successfully), ubiquity
asked whether to restart now or continue testing the live system.
After choosing to continue testing, the dialog froze and ubiquity
crashed.
