use of private DMB IRC channel

As a new member I didn't know about the private channel before reading 
your email.
I don't have a strong opinion on the topic, I agree than most 
discussions should happen in public and that it's possible to gather 
members for a private chat if needed on special occasions.
I don't feel like I've enough understanding of why that channel was 
created and how it is used to come to a conclusion that it isn't needed 
though.

I'm waiting to see the replies from other DMB members which might change 
my position but I lean toward a +1 on closing the private channel for now.
