Hookless Email

I used to run the hookless email daemon so as to provide notifications
whenever certain central mainline branches on my server were pushed to.
I just rebooted the server a couple of days ago and now the hookless
email fails to do the right thing.
I normally use the @reboot in crontab to kick off the daemons but that
hasn't worked. I just tried kicking one off manually and whilst the
command completes, no daemon is set up even though a check is done and
emails sent of for new commits since the last run.
So the core code is still working, but -d no longer sets off a daemon.
I am assuming someone has been tinkering with the code recently -- I use
a branch of bzr+ssh://bazaar.launchpad.net/%
7Ebzr/bzr-hookless-email/trunk/. Has something changes that hasn't been
notified?
(I am using hookless email as I haven't been able to get the email
plugin to work on the server only from a client -- which isn't useful in
this case.)
Thanks.
