1.14rc1 make check-dist-tarball failures

Because of the discussions taking place in the "New 1.14RC date"  
thread I do not want to push 1.14rc1 without a clean test suite run.


I've opened a bug report

https://bugs.launchpad.net/bzr/+bug/355454

I don't mean to ask for special attention but having the test suite  
failing is delaying the 1.14rc1 release.
