RFI: Storage efficiency of packs vs hg/git/svn?

I believe from Robert's measurements they are smaller than hg and svn,
because of less file fragmentation and using harder compression. We
have room to improve them through using better deltas (eg xdelta, as
John has explored), multi-parent diffs (Aaron), or non-forward deltas,
as cvs and git use. In general they're about 10% smaller than the
(currently default) knits format.
